I purchased my first SLR film camera at a time when digital was just starting to take over. I used the SLR for a short period of time but then decided to break into DSLR photography as I found it much more convenient to see my pictures as I took them. Thank you!!! Taken with a Nikon D300 + Sigma 150-500mm OS lens. The mother allowed me to be within about 6 feet of the nest and was very comfortable with me there. The nest was very protected by leaves and bushes so it was quite hard to get a clear shot without obstructions. Very slow movement and respecting her space allowed me to gain her trust. I now use a Nikon 300mm F4 prime mostly as it is so much more sharp but still use the Sigma once in a while for still shots.
